Best CrossFit Timer Apps (2026)
There are a handful of solid timer apps for CrossFit and functional fitness. Each takes a different approach. This is an honest comparison of the most popular options, including WODrounds (which I built). I will be upfront about what each app does well and where it falls short.
SmartWOD Timer
Best for: athletes who need AMRAP and For Time modes alongside EMOM and Tabata.
SmartWOD is the most popular CrossFit timer with over half a million users. It supports every common WOD format: AMRAP, EMOM, For Time, Tabata and custom intervals. The interface uses large, colorful buttons and the app works on both iOS and Android. Apple Watch support is included.

Seconds Interval Timer
Best for: people who want maximum flexibility and complex interval sequences.

Box Timer
Best for: gyms and boxes that want a simple, free timer on a big screen.
Box Timer has a clean interface designed to look like the clock on a CrossFit box wall. It focuses on simplicity and is completely free. If you just need a straightforward countdown timer without extra features, this is a solid choice.

PushPress Timer
Best for: gym owners and coaches who program workouts for members.
PushPress is part of a larger gym management platform. The timer includes Death By, EMOM, Tabata, Work/Rest and Beep Test modes. It is aimed at coaches who need to program for a class rather than individual athletes.

WODrounds
Best for: athletes who want a minimal, private timer across all Apple devices.
This is my app. I built WODrounds because I wanted a timer that does two things well: EMOM (1–120 rounds, 0:30–9:30 round length) and intervals (work 5–60s, rest 5–60s, 1–120 rounds). No accounts, no ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases. No marketing trackers in the app; optional crash reporting on iOS via Sentry. It runs natively on 5 Apple platforms: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Apple TV. Start a workout on iPhone and the Watch syncs automatically via WatchConnectivity. Completed workouts are saved to Apple Health as HIIT sessions.

Which one should you pick?
If you need AMRAP and For Time modes, SmartWOD is the most complete option. If you want maximum customization and complex interval chains, Seconds gives you the most control. If you want a free, no-frills gym clock, Box Timer works in any browser.
If you train on Apple devices, want a timer that works on your Watch, Mac and Apple TV without accounts or ads, and you primarily do EMOM and interval workouts — that is exactly what I built WODrounds for.
